How we back young leaders.
Leadership here is built, not bestowed. Each program finds young people early, gives them real tools and real responsibility, and asks them to lift the ones who follow.
The flagship
The Young Global Leadership Initiative
A path that carries a young person from their first hours of service to a seat at the table, and a duty to mentor the next arrival.
The Initiative runs in several tracks. Young Global Leaders make a 200-hour commitment to serving humanity alongside professional training and development. Senior Young Global Leaders, graduates who stay on to assist the Foundation and mentor new leaders, often move into roles as staff, board members, or global advisors.
The Luce Leadership Experience
International humanitarian journeys to countries including Greece, Indonesia, and Jamaica, where young leaders meet the work first-hand.
Global Advisor Mentorship
Graduates of the summer Initiative are paired with a Global Advisor who meets with them at least an hour a month.
Global Advisor Seminar Series
Senior advisors lead six hour-long seminars in their fields; leaders attend at least four to graduate.
New York Global Leaders Lions & Leos Club
A home in one of the world’s great service organizations, connecting young leaders to a century of civic tradition.
Talent and craft
Fellows, Scholars & Artists-in-Residence
The J. Luce Fellowship is a calendar-year program in which approved Fellows lend their own training and skills, in person or virtually, to the challenges the Foundation is working on. Fellows have come from universities around the world, from Barcelona and Cornell to Ohio State and Case Western.
Alongside them, the Foundation’s Artists-in-Residence have included a poet and a modern dancer, carrying the belief that the arts belong at the center of a life of service, not at its edges.
